Business cards online
Buying
your business cards online is easy to do and there are many great
suppliers and offers available on the web.
Along with letterheads, this simple marketing device
is one of the most basic parts of your promotional efforts, and
you shouldn't leave home without a supply stashed in your bag, wallet,
briefcase or car.
Vistaprint operates an excellent free business cards
promotion which never seems to end and I recommend this as your
starting point for sourcing your business cards online.
They are genuinely free, but Vistaprint is the very
model of a company selling 'add-ons' effectively, so I bet you leave
with paying at least a small amount ... I always do!
Network marketers are excellent at marketing
... they have bumper stickers, badges, business cards, T-shirts
... you name it, they're shameless at promotion.
So take a leaf out of their book and get yourself
some business cards ... that way whenever your home internet business
comes up in conversation, you can hand out a card with all your
essential URLs and present a professional image.
My business card hints
You can see what my own Vistaprint calling card looks like below.
The name of my business - for tax purposes - is website-academy.com,
hence the name on the card.
You'll notice I use a PO Box address ... that's because I run my
business from home and want to separate home and work.
It costs about £130 per year - that's for the address and a redirection
of mail to my home address.
The design is an 'off-the-shelf' option from Vistaprint, but it
sums up what I do perfectly.
With Vistaprint's business cards online service, it's free to get
a card printed up just like the the one below, and there is a multitude
of designs available for all types of different business themes.
The 'paid for' element of my card is the rear section
on which I promote Site Build It!, the tool I use to create this
website.
The logo is taken from the Offline Marketing and Sales
Kit which is made available to all affiliates.
You'll note that I've used an unusual URL to send
people to my SBI site.
This is called a 'Tracker link' and when you click
on it it redirects you to a sales page of my choosing.
It also allows me to monitor how much business my
calling cards are bringing in for me, as I get a breakdown of how
my tracker links are performing in SBI!
I have my business cards wherever I might need them
... in my briefcase, my 'man bag' and my wallet.
I attach them to every bit of literature I hand out,
and I hand them out at any opportunity I have where I'm discussing
my business.
It's cheap, effective, professional ... and it works,
if you get your essential information included in your business
card.
The
advantage of creating business cards online like this - with a service
like Vistaprint - is that you can play around with their designs
and even create your own, uploading your own images and logos as
I have done in the example above.
You can save 'demos' for later, get a second or third opinion,
proof read your work and be absolutely sure that it's what you want.
There are many add-ons which online printing companies offer too,
so if at any time you wish to expand your marketing effort, it's
simple to do so, you just log on and pick up where you left off
last time.
