Clickbank affiliate

Clickbank screen grab

A Clickbank affiliate can earn some pretty impressive commissions and it's well worth your while getting acquainted with the services offered early on in your affiliate career.

As you can see from the screen grab above, there are affiliate and vendor options available, I'll just deal with the affiliate option here.

The basic premise of being a Clickbank affiliate is that you can sell - for up to 75% commissions - the products of thousands of vendors and there's bound to be something that ties in nicely with your own website niche.

Also, because the site only deals with digital products (ebooks, software downloads and the like) there's no processing and postage involved, so the path from sale to payment is quicker.

What's so good about Clickbank?

Here are some more key advantages:

# Huge variety of products to sell from

# Detailed info showing popularity and key stats associated with each product

# No individual contracts required ... if it's listed, you can sell it

# All payments handled securely on your behalf

# Weekly payment of commissions available

# Global reach and 13 currencies available

# Commissions shown 2 minutes after a purchase is made on the main site

Things you need to know if you're a Clickbank affiliate

There are a few key phrases that you need to get to grips with quickly if you use the service:

Gravity: The most popular products attracting the most affiliates are deemed to have high gravity.

Those with less 'gravity' have less exposure and are therefore less competitive.

Hoplinks: These are special codes which ensure that you receive your commission if it's your link that leads to the sale of a product.

They can also incorporate your tracking code so you can closely monitor your campaigns.

A Hoplink looks like this:

http://AFFILIATE.VENDOR.hop.clickbank.net

AFFILIATE is your nickname, VENDOR is the seller's identification.

Hoplink Shield: This encrypts the information in a Hoplink, meaning that people can't look at the code in your website and see that you're selling as a Clickbank Affiliate.

%refd: This is the percentage of total sales that come from affiliates.

If a publisher made 10 sales via his affiliates and 90 by himself (100 sales total), the %refd would be 10%

How does it work?

To find suitable products to resell, simply navigate to the Marketplace section of the website.

You must sign up for an account first to be able to use the affiliate program.

Clickbank product search screen grab

By way of example, I've searched for a product that is relevant to this page.

It's called The Clickbank Code and I'm going to show how you would sell this product as an affiliate.

Here's the info that is associated with this product:

$/sale: $43.37 | Future $: - | Total $/sale: $43.37 | %/sale: 60.0% | %refd: 78.0% | grav: 518.98

You can see that gravity is very high, so there's a lot of competition around this product.

There's a 60% commission per sale which sounds good to me, and the %refd rate is 78%, meaning that affiliates make most of this vendor's sales.

To see what the product is, I go to the pitch page to check it out and see how compelling it looks.

Now this is a pretty good product, so I'm going to go ahead with this.

To begin promoting this product on this page I click on the Create Hoplink text below the product pitch and create my Clickbak affiliate link - see below:

Clickbank Hoplink creator

The following Hoplink is generated and as you can see, it's pretty meaningless:

http://6cc61c2nam7xpucsw3q4gff4ag.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=WWAHCLICKBANK

The WWAHCLICKBANK at the end is my tracking code, which lets me know when a sale comes from this page.

The next thing you need is a decent promotional graphic, although you can always just include a text link on your page if you want.

Virtually all Clickbank vendors have affiliate schemes available via their landing pages, so sign up for these and grab their great graphics.

For this page, I have grabbed the graphic HTML which has the standard Hoplink code in it:

<a href="http://XXXX.thecbcode.hop.clickbank.net"><img
SRC="http://www.theclickbankcode.com/Banners/468x60.gif"
NOSAVE BORDER=0 height=60 width=468>
</a>

By inserting my own Clickbank affiliate nickname where the XXXX is placed, I will take commissions when sales are made.

However, if I want to, I can insert my cloaked link here, as in the HTML code below:

<a href="http://6cc61c2nam7xpucsw3q4gff4ag.hop.clickbank.net
/?tid=WWAHCLICKBANK"><img
SRC="http://www.theclickbankcode.com/Banners/468x60.gif"
NOSAVE BORDER=0 height=60 width=468>
</a>

Inserting this code in my page, gives the banner below ... click on it (you don't have to buy!) and see how it works:

The Clickbank Code

This is a really neat way of making high commission sales without carrying stock or having to handle payments.
