Ezine advertising

Ezine advertising is an ideal - and free - way to cross promote
your home internet business.
Strangely, I stumbled across it offline when I read an
article in a village newsheet ... I'll explain how a little later
on.
First though a look at how marketing articles can help to distribute
your brilliant web content to a much wider audience.
How does it work?
Here's a quick and simple guide to explain how it
works:
- You write articles which are theme based and properly keyworded
- You submit these to an ezine website
- If your article passes the editorial checks, it is published
online
- As part of the ezine 'deal' you get to create a 'self-serving'
promo which links out to your own commercial website
- Once published, people read your article and click on your links,
driving highly targeted traffic to your website
- Other websites are allowed to publish your articles online,
so long as they credit you and include your web links
- Offline publications can also publish your articles, and once
again, they have to publish your name and links to your website

In short, ezine advertising is an excellent way of marketing your
website for free.
Even
better, if you are already producing a
content based, keyworded website (which you should be!) you
have already done most of the work ... simply abridge and tweak
your articles to make them a bit shorter (articles of 500 words
or thereabouts perform best on ezine websites) and you get a 'two-for-the-price
of one' hit for every page you produce.
My favourite website is Ezinearticles.com
mainly because it appears to me to have more articles ranking highly
in the search engines than other websites.
This isn't to say that there aren't other good ezine advertising
websites out there, and I'll pass on a few others that I like at
the end of this article.
Ezine advertising extras
Ezinearticles.com gives you a couple of nice 'extras' which I like
too, so that you - and other people - can spread your content around
even more using widgets and promos.
Here for instance is an online widget - which you
or I can embed into other websites - showing my article feeds:
As well as providing widgets, Ezinearticles.com gives
you banners to promote what you're doing:
What do the providers get out of it?
Very little in life is genuinely free, so
what do the ezine websites get out of the deal?
They get hundreds of keyword rich content-based articles,
on a vast variety of themes, around which they base contextual advertising.
Ezine websites are the search engines' dream come
true as they're filled with perfectly produced articles which can
easily be spidered.
For the people who run these ezine websites, they
must be a infopreneurial webmaster's dream come true!
A small word of warning for you ... I wouldn't be
inclined to write for an ezine advertising site unless you have
something to promote and a website to link to, otherwise you're
just lining someone else's pockets and fuelling their website with
search engine 'gold'.
If you're desperate to write, get it off your chest
by writing for your own website first, then passing on the articles
to third parties.
Get a bit of that search engine magic and make sure
you have back-links to whatever it is you want to promote.

Other sources of ezine advertising
The ezine website that I originally started using
was freearticles.co.za
(above) which I also think is an extremely good ezine advertising
website.
This was how I originally discovered that ezine advertising
existed, as I read an article in my local village newsheet that
has been republished and thought 'What a good idea'.
This website is easy to use, well organised, sensibly
set out and ranks well in the search engines.

Finally, another site which is worth a look - though
it's not one I've used personally - is articlesbase.com.
I'm a bit put off this site because it really
squeezes every last drop of 'keyword juice' out of each page, so
as well as Google ads, you'll see product photos and banner ads
as well as contextual ad links, making the page feel much more about
the advertising than the article itself.
This site feels like it's more fore the benefit of
the owners than the readers.
However, it's a popular well-established website and
has some nice 'extras' like 'Send to a friend', RSS feeds of your
articles as well as 'Email the author' links ... which makes the
site potentially good for you too!
There are lots and lots of these ezine advertising
websites around - just do a Google search for 'ezines' - but if
you're going to commit to one, I'd recommend Ezinearticles.com for
your home business marketing in the first instance.
