MLM training

Man training team at whiteboardGood MLM training is an essential part of the business if you're going to succeed in network marketing.

You simply can't be everywhere at once, and there are only so many people you can talk to yourself in the time you have available.

You have to focus on the network part of the deal, as the people you recruit into the business will be partly responsible for the income you generate ... and if they're not doing well, you're not doing well.

You need to cover a great variety of topics, such as:

# recruiting # selling # prospecting # presenting # running a team # managing the business #effective communication # time management # organization

The list goes on, and there's no reason to expect that your downline will have all of these skills or even take to them naturally.

So you need to develop a system, and get some decent resources to help you to make some great MLM training available for your team.

Taking notesGetting started with your MLM training

Here are three big tips about your personal training system for your team:

# It needs to be duplicable ... you need a step-by-step system that creates a good and clear progression for your trainees.

# You need decent tools for the job ... whether that be instructional CDs, online conference calls via PC, or a web-based training programme.

# You need an action plan ... rather than using a 'scattergun' approach, your recruits need to feel that they're progressing through a step-by-step system which has a beginning, a middle and an end.

Having said that, training and learning never end, but it's going to be much more of an incentive for a new recruit to work trough a 5 part introcuctory module, than endlessly commit to a training program that goes on and on and never seems to conclude.

Five great sources of advice

Here are five really useful sources of MLM training that I'd suggest you try to get you started ... and most of it is free, even if there are also 'paid-for' options available too.

1) Firstly, for well-delivered practical advice, full of common sense wisdom, check out Dani Johnson.

Not only is she extremely entertaining and motivational, her website is absolutely packed with free training audio and files and she runs a weekly training broadcast which you can dial into as a team, and use it as a starting point as your own group's learning.

Dani Johnson will focus on the people side of your network marketing business - rather than the web and technical side, though I do note that even Dani is now recognizing the power of the internet as you can see in the video below:

2) For web and technical training and advice, you need to tap into Ann Sieg, also known as 'The Renagade Network Marketer'.

If you take what Dani Johnson says about the way you do business, the motivational skills you need and the offline techniques she uses - and combine those with Ann Sieg's web and marketing techniques, you've got a pretty explosive combination.

Ann Sieg throwns conventional network marketing wisdom on its head and comes up with a completely new approach to MLM on the web.

Tap into her system and use it in your own training program to show your team how to generate a constant flow of network marketing leads.

Many of her tools are free, some come with expense, but you should definitely make sure you're aware of what she has to say.

3) YouTube is an excellent source of training material and the search term 'mlm training' brought up more than 17,000 results for me.

Now, not all of this training is going to be worth your while, and it'll require some sorting and sifting before you offer it to your team.

However, there are some real nuggets in there and there's no point in you re-inventing the wheel if somebody has already created a free, training resource.

4) iTunes is also an excellent source of free MLM training tools, and there are several established and free podcasts available in the directory.

Remember that you can download the best of these broadcasts, save them, edit them (rights permitting) using a free tool like Audacity and make them available (not sell!) to your downline as training tools.

Make sure you check out rights issues before you do this, but generally if you download a free, non-commercial podcast for educational and information use among your team, it's not going to be a problem.

You shouldn't try to pass it off as your own, distribute it on the internet or re-sell it without checking the rights situation first.
