Tradedoubler - affiliate
program
Tradedoubler
is the first affiliate program that I started using when I began
looking at ways to earn extra money on the internet, and I'd have
to say that it still remains one of my favourites.
When you start affiliate marketing, you are entering into a business
relationship with somebody.
They act as an intermediary between lots of large companies wanting
to sell their product and people like you and me who take commissions
when we help those large companies to sell those products via our
websites and blogs.
There are a number of key elements to make this partnership a happy
one and it's one of the best established ways to earn money on the
Web:
# Does the affiliate program offer a good selection of high quality
companies to partner with and will they complement your website
niche?
# Is the company established in the field and does it have a good
reputation?
# What are its partnership and payment terms ... and are you happy
with them?
# What payment thresholds do they offer, and are you ever
likely to reach them with the level of business that you're doing?
Some affiliate marketing companies will close your account if you
don't do any business for them.
# If you're planning to run multiple websites, can you access
them via one simple login or do you have to open a separate account
for each site that you operate?
# What's the web interface like? Easy to use or just plain confusing?
# How do they pay? Via Paypal, directly into your bank account,
by credit vouchers or cheque? Make sure this suits the set-up of
your own home internet business.
How
does Tradedoubler rank?
From my personal experience, Tradedoubler is one of the best affiliate
programs in terms of ease of use and user friendly interface.
It has a very good range of quality advertisers and shows you how
much money your websites have brought in each time you logon.
I've got multiple websites registered within the one account and
can easily administrate all of them through that account.
There's plenty of support and guidance offered within the site
to help you to make the most of the opportunities on offer and you
can contact support quickly and easily without having to jump through
lots of hoops.
They're good for people starting out with affiliate marketing because
they don't hassle you if you're not making sales ... and in the
early days of a website, that's likely to be your situation.

Here are the top 5 things I particularly like about
Tradedoubler, but remember that you should run a portfolio of affiliate
programs so that you don't become dependent on any one of them.
That way if they go out of business, change
their terms in a way that's not acceptable to you or they lose your
best-performing partners, your business will survive because it's
not built from a pack of cards.
1) Account balance on login ... I
get an instant view of how much I've made as soon as I login. I
can go deeper into that information and see what's brought in the
business, but I like to get my 'top line' information instantly.
I also get a snapshot of page impressions, unique users and clicks
on first login.
2) Simple verification process ...
many affiliate programs will ask you to provide site owner verification
this process is simple and straightforward. You just cut and paste
a bit of code like <-- Tradedoubler site verification 123456
--> between the <HEAD> and </HEAD> tags in your homepage,
verification is instant and you're on your way.
3) Payment methods ... I can set
up direct payments to my business account and I'm given clear information
about how much will be paid in and when. No cheques, no additional
processing, just a simple and direct bank payment.
4) Multiple site listings ... you
wouldn't believe how hard some companies make this process, but
with Tradedoubler it's a breeze. Simply click 'Register new site'
and you enter the URL and categorize your site's content. It's as
easy as that, just as it should be.
5) Multiple banner options ... once
again, you'd expect this to be one of the most basic parts of a
decent affiliate programme, but not all companies make life so easy.
For each advertiser, you get an extensive number of banner options
and sizes and getting the code for your web page is simple and straightfoward.
Adding a banner ad using Tradedoubler
To show you how simple Tradedoubler is to use, I'm
going to illustrate the 3-part process involved in putting the advertising
banner below on this page.
Step 1: Go into the list of affiliate
programs that you have been accepted for by Tradedoubler and select
the advertiser that you wish to use.
In this case I will select Tradedoubler.
You should note that as an affiliate with Tradedoubler,
you select partners to advertise, then apply to work in partnership
with them.
They must first accept you as a suitable website before
you can use their ads, so take note, they may refuse to partner
you.
If you run a good and decent website, you generally
won't have any problems.

Step 2: Select which ad size you
want to use on your page - in this case I have opted for 468x60
- and click on 'Show code' next to the ad which you wish to display
on your web page.

Step 3: Choose whether you want HTML,
Javascript or an iFrame advert (options vary, they all do the same
thing in different ways), whether you want a pop-up, a pop-under
or custom option, then cut and paste the code you've been given
into your web page HTML.

The code automatically includes your unique identifier
so that if a sale is made as a result of a customer visiting your
website, you take a commission in line with the terms and conditions
you signed up to.
Tradedoubler is an excellent starting point for new
home internet businesses new to the industry.
It's not the only good quality affiliate partner however,
and I'll review more of these elsewhere in the site.
